Airmen projected to deploy or who have recently returned from deployment have the opportunity to participate in the PLAYpass Get out and Play Program here on base, offering exclusive savings on installation programs.

The PLAYpass program provides Air Force families a relief from the challenges of separation caused by deployments and dependent restricted assignments. It also gives Airmen who have recently returned an opportunity to reintegrate and reunite with their loved ones through recreation activities focused on social, fitness and learning programs.

"The program allows Airmen and families to get out of their dorms or house and participate in activities happening in the community, taking their mind off their recent deployment," said Gale Thompson, 28th Force Support Squadron community services flight chief.

Two family PLAYpass cards will be issued to those that meet eligibility requirements. The first card is issued when the member is deployed or on a dependent restricted assignment, and is valid while the member is gone plus the 90 days after deployed member returns. The second family card is issued upon return from the member's deployment and is valid 90 days from the return date.

The Single Airmen PLAYpass card is issued upon return from deployment and expires 90 days after return.

In order to use the PLAYpass card, individuals must present a Department of Defense identification card that matches the sponsor's or single Airman's name on the front.

While the savings are plentiful, there are still restrictions for using the card. The card cannot be used for food, beverages, or merchandise. Additionally, there is no cash refund for any unused portion of the coupon block.

Airmen can pick up PLAYpass cards at the 28th Force Support Squadron Airman and Family Readiness Center located on the first floor in the Rushmore Center. To find out more on eligibility requirements and or more info on the PLAYpass program, contact the 28th FSS A&FRC at (605)385-4663.
