Ellsworth's dormitory residents will soon benefit from multiple common area upgrades thanks to the 28th Civil Engineer Squadron.

The $360,000 project consists of renovations to the kitchenettes and public restrooms designed to enhance the quality of life for Airmen living in the dorms.

"The renovations are going to utilize space more efficiently and also provide Airmen more options when it comes to preparing and cooking their meals," said Staff Sgt. Andrew Warnement, 28th CES construction inspector.

Features to be installed include new tile floors and cabinets to new counter tops and upgraded appliances. Other highlights are the implementation of polyvinyl chloride piping and new electrical lines to compliment new lights and outlets.

Additionally, unisex restrooms will be added with new plumbing, sinks and toilets providing for savings in resources.

"It's nice that there will be more stove space and two ovens to use," said Brody Schneider, 28th Operation Support Squadron air traffic controller and Jefferson Chambers Dormitory resident. "Also, the kitchen will be much bigger and won't be so crowded when people are cooking their meals."

The renovated kitchenettes and restrooms are scheduled for completion by the end of September 2013.
