From the lowest ranking Airman on the flight line, to the Wing Commander every Airman is required to complete training.

"Training is pretty much the number one important thing to the Air Force, right behind mission accomplishment. It's important because without training there would be no mission accomplishment." - SSgt. Derek Perrault

And that's where SSgt. Derek Perrault, the Unit Education and Training Manager for the 28th Communications Squadron at Ellsworth Air Force Base comes in. It's his job to make sure everyone in his squadron is getting the training they need to do their job.

"A favorite part of my job, I love to see when someone's hard work pays off. An example of that would be CDCs (Career Development Courses). Somebody studies real hard and from my level I'm observing them progressing through the CDCs and when they take their test and I get the results and I see that they've made a ninety or above and they get that recognition from the commander. That's the favorite part of my job is being able to be part of that process." - SSgt. Perrault

And whether he's tracking someone's progress through their CDCs or sending people to other bases for more advanced training, SSgt. Perrault is making sure his squadron knows how to get the job done right. Reporting from Ellsworth Air Force Base, South Dakota, I'm Airman Kate Walker.
