ELLSWORTH AIR FORCE BASE, S.D.-- Capt. Louis "Salami" Heidema, 37th Bomb Squadron weapons systems officer and BONE 23 crew member, accepts the 2008 Mackay Trophy from Jonathan Gaffney, president and CEO of the National Aeronautic Association, the oldest national aviation organization in the United States, Feb 16. The Mackay Trophy is the oldest and most prestigious award given annually to Air Force aircrews for the most meritorious flight of the year.  BONE 23 received the award for outstanding performance in a deployed environment. Previous recipients have included Gen. Henry “Hap” Arnold, Capt. Eddie Rickenbacker, Major Gen.
