Airman 1st Class Brian Decker, a crew chief assigned to the 379th Expeditionary Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, 34th Aircraft Maintenance Unit, feels with his fingers making sure the rivets are screwed down flush on a gear screw access panel Aug. 25, 2008 at an undisclosed air base in Southwest Asia. The access panel was removed to allow a check of the gear sweep assembly as part of a home station check. Home station checks are performed every 800 hours of flying time, checking wear and chafing in high stress sections of the B-1 Lancer aircraft. B-1s assigned to the 379th are regularly called upon for precision air strikes in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom.
