A 34th Bomb Squadron B-1B Lancer takes off en route to Southwest Asia in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom July 24. At their deployed location, this will be the first use of the Sniper Advanced Targeting Pod by Ellsworth B-1s; the Sniper ATP is a long-range precision targeting system that supports strike missions by providing positive target identification, autonomous tracking, coordinate generation and accurate weapons guidance from extended standoff ranges.
