Bringing the thunder
Col. Ty Neuman, 28th Bomb Wing vice commander, presents DeWayne Hayes, a Korean War veteran, with a U.S. flag flown over Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom during the 2014 Dakota Thunder Motorcycle Run at Sturgis, S.D., Aug. 5, 2014. Hayes joined the U.S. Air Force in October of 1950 when he was stationed at McChord Air Force Base, Wash., before getting transferred to Ellsworth, then known as Rapid City Air Force Base. In 1953, Hayes arrived at Kimpo Air Force Base in Korea, where he served as a target controller with the 67th Tactical Reconnaissance Group Intelligence.
