Gordon Lease, former Coast Guard Boatswains Mate, was one of two honored during a veterans recognition ceremony at Sturgis, S.D., Aug. 9, 2016. Lease is a WWII veteran who earned the Legion d’honneur, the highest French order for military and civil merits, for his support of the Normandy invasion where his crew transported 265 soldiers and sailors from the shoreline to England for medical treatment.
