  • DoD Makes Changes to Pharmacy Medications

    Beginning Oct. 1, patients who are not assigned to a provider at a Military Treatment Facility will not be eligible to receive medications that are not on the Department of Defense Tricare formulary list.

    The 28th Medical Group hosted a decontamination exercise to demonstrate and test their readiness and capabilities to handle a simulated Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear threat in a real-world situation. They were timed and tested on their ability to don their gear, set up a DECON station, set up a water heater to provide warm water to the station and clean all harmful chemicals and materials from a training dummy. They were able to complete their task well under the allotted completion time and earn required certifications pertaining to their career field.

    ELLSWORTH AIR FORCE BASE, S.D. – The 19th annual Veteran’s Recognition Ceremony was kicked off by the Dakota Thunder Run at Ellsworth Air Force Base, S.D., Aug. 6, 2019. Two B-1B Lancer static displays were parked on the flight line for riders to enjoy and take photos of before the ride. Over 170 motorcycle riders began their ride on base and proceeded to Sturgis to participate in the ceremony.

    Col. David A. Doss took command of the 28th Bomb Wing, the largest B-1 combat wing in the Air Force, from Col. John Edwards during a change of command at Ellsworth Air Force Base, S.D., May 30.
  • Asian Pacific American Heritage Month is celebrated at Ellsworth

    Asian Pacific American Heritage Month has come again to Ellsworth Air Force Base and was celebrated with a food tasting event at The Exchange. Airmen and their families enjoyed cuisine prepared by volunteers who were influenced by the rich cultures of Asians and Pacific Islanders. Attendees also enjoyed hula dancing performed by the Polynesian Dance Group and listened to guest speakers.
  • Ellsworth tax center offers base community free assistance

    The Ellsworth Air Force Base tax center is officially open. The center is a free resource for base members, retirees and military families, and volunteers are standing by to help prepare and file taxes.
  • Security forces superintendent selected for chief master sergeant

    Senior Master Sgt. Jesse Frank, the 28th Security Forces Squadron operations superintendent, was informed by Ellsworth Air Force Base leadership that he will be soon be putting on the highest enlisted rank in the Air Force. Only 1 percent of Airmen earn the prestigious title of chief master sergeant.
