ELLSWORTH AIR FORCE BASE, S.D. -The Airman and Family Readiness Center hosted a "Credit When Credit is Due" course, April 4, as part of an ongoing effort to help Airmen manage their personal finances more effectively.

Laurie Adkins, AFRC community readiness consultant, said the course was designed as a base line to help Airmen understand how to effectively manage their finances.

"Credit When Credit is Due is our gateway financial seminar for anyone interested in learning more about saving, borrowing money, investing and creating a spending plan," Atkins explained " It also features tips for the responsible management of credit and debt."

Adkins said this course helps Airmen to think about money in a way that builds wealth, and reduces or eliminates debt from their lives.

Terry Mills, Consumer Credit Counseling Service education and community outreach manager, has been in the financial industry for more than 20 years and visits the base twice a month to teach financial seminars at the AFRC.

Mills added that Airmen are responsible to learn and apply knowledge to better manage their money and use their credit in the future.

"Information on money management skills, and using and maintaining good credit, will allow Airmen to keep more of their money and improve their quality of life," he said.

Adkins added that the AFRC stands ready to assist in times of need and stress for the entire Ellsworth community. "We highly encourage active-duty members and their families to participate in our educational seminars to help stay on the positive side of their finances," she emphasized.
