  • AFGSC orders B-1B safety stand-down

    The Air Force Global Strike Command commander ordered a safety stand-down of the B-1B Lancer fleet March 28. During a routine inspection of the B-1B drogue chute system, potentially fleet-wide issues were identified with the rigging of the drogue chute.   • Ellsworth’s new command chief: #SLAY

    The 28th Bomb Wing recently welcomed the second woman to ever assume the role of command chief at Ellsworth Air Force Base. Chief Master Sgt. Rochelle Hemingway, originally from Kokomo, Indiana, was previously stationed at Luke AFB, Arizona, where she served as the 56th Medical Operations Squadron’s superintendent. As command chief, Hemingway will advise Col. John Edwards, the 28th Bomb Wing commander, on the topics of health, morale, welfare, training and development for the Airmen stationed at Ellsworth AFB.

    The new Early Learning Matters (ELM) curriculum was created to promote the development of the whole child with learning activities that help children develop specific skills. The new curriculum was developed specifically for Department of Defense families.
  • Ellsworth EOD responds to accident with truck carrying Navy projectiles

    A six-man team from the 28th Civil Engineer Squadron explosive ordnance disposal flight responded to a vehicle collision on Highway 212 in Montana the night of Feb. 10. The crash involved two tractor trailers – one carrying fertilizer and the other U.S. Navy high-explosive projectiles.
